CBG oil explained — and where to buy it in Canberra

CBG oil is cannabigerol, a minor hemp cannabinoid in an MCT carrier. What it is, how it compares to CBD and CBN, and where to buy it in Canberra.

CBG oil is cannabigerol — a minor cannabinoid from the hemp plant — supplied in a neutral MCT carrier oil. CBD Oil Canberra stocks it for Canberra, priced in Australian dollars and shipped across Belconnen, Gungahlin, Tuggeranong, Woden and the wider ACT. This page sets out what CBG oil is, strictly by composition, and where to buy it.

Because "cbg oil" is sold at a range of strengths and prices, the most practical place to begin is with the handful of things actually worth checking on a label — then the explanation of what each one means.

A quick checklist before you buy CBG oil

None of these points is about what an oil might do. Each is a factual attribute you can read off the bottle or the lab report and use to compare two products fairly:

  • Cannabinoid — confirm it's cannabigerol (CBG), not CBD or CBN.
  • Total milligrams — the amount of CBG in the whole bottle (ours: 1000–12000mg).
  • Milligrams per millilitre — total mg ÷ bottle size; the real measure of concentration.
  • Carrier oil — what the cannabinoid is dissolved in (ours: coconut-derived MCT).
  • THC content and COA — confirmed in a batch Certificate of Analysis, available on request.

Each item below is just that checklist, explained.

What CBG (cannabigerol) is

CBG, or cannabigerol, is one of the cannabinoids in Cannabis sativa, the plant family hemp belongs to. It is classed as a minor cannabinoid, which is a quantity statement: a mature hemp plant holds only a little of it, far less than cannabidiol (CBD).

The familiar nickname, the "mother cannabinoid," is a point of plant biology and nothing more. A young hemp plant first produces cannabigerolic acid (CBGA); as it grows, its enzymes convert most of that CBGA into the precursors of the other cannabinoids — CBD, THC and CBC. Because CBG is the shared starting material, it's called the "mother," and because most of it is converted, very little remains at harvest.

There's a single practical consequence, and it's about supply rather than effect: with so little CBG in the plant, a CBG oil generally costs more than a comparable CBD oil. More plant material is needed to reach the same milligram figure on the label.

CBG next to CBD and CBN

It's worth seeing CBG beside the other two cannabinoids you'll meet on the shelf, compared by make-up.

CBD is the common one, and we sell it two ways: the full-spectrum CBD oil carries cannabidiol with the other whole-plant compounds and a legal trace of THC under 0.3%, and the broad-spectrum CBD oil is that same whole-plant make-up with the THC removed (0% THC). CBG, covered here, is a separate single cannabinoid the plant makes little of. CBN (cannabinol) is different again — it forms as hemp ages, and our CBN oil is a THC-free isolate. Three distinct cannabinoids, one shared MCT carrier and bottle size, easy to line up.

A word on those terpenes, since they're the reason full-spectrum and broad-spectrum CBD read differently from a single-cannabinoid oil like CBG. Terpenes are the aromatic compounds the hemp plant produces alongside its cannabinoids; a whole-plant CBD extract carries them, while a single-cannabinoid CBG oil is a narrower profile centred on the one compound. None of that is a ranking of better or worse — it's simply a description of what each extract contains, so you can match the make-up to what you're after.

Our CBG oil, specified

Here is the CBG oil on the Canberra store, described only by what it contains — matching the checklist above.

The bottle is hemp extract in a coconut-derived MCT carrier oil, a neutral food-grade base. It holds 50ml. The figure on the front is the total cannabigerol, ranging from 1000mg to 12000mg: the 1000mg CBG oil is the entry strength, with the 3000mg and 6000mg bottles concentrating more cannabinoid into the same 50ml. Prices start from $89.95 in AUD.

Every batch is independently lab-tested, and the Certificate of Analysis — where the cannabinoid and THC figures are confirmed in writing — is available on request. The range is made for EU Labs in Amsterdam and dispatched within Australia. On category: this is an over-the-counter, hemp-derived CBG oil described by composition, not a prescription product, and we make no claim that it is one.

It can help to see how the milligram figure translates into the bottle. A 50ml bottle is measured out in 0.5ml servings, which works out to roughly 100 servings per bottle whatever the strength. So the strength you pick changes how much cannabigerol sits in each 0.5ml — not how many servings the bottle holds. A 1000mg bottle puts 20mg of CBG in each millilitre; a 6000mg bottle puts 120mg in the same millilitre. That's the whole relationship between the front-label number and what comes out of the dropper.

If you'd like the dropper-and-milligrams mechanics explained step by step, our guide to using CBD oil walks through measuring a 0.5ml serving; the same method applies to CBG, and choosing a strength is a matter of concentration and budget — your decision, with no doses published for any condition. Orders are placed online and posted out, with no Canberra shopfront to visit: we send your CBG oil across Belconnen, Gungahlin, Tuggeranong, Woden and the rest of ACT.

Is CBG oil legal in ACT?

CBG oil sits within Australia's national framework for low-THC hemp and cannabinoid products, which is set federally rather than locally in Canberra. The THC content of a given product is the variable that matters most — another reason the Certificate of Analysis is worth reading before purchase.

For the current national position on cannabidiol and related cannabinoids, see the Therapeutic Goods Administration. For Canberra and ACT buyers, the plain summary: our oils are described by composition, sold to adults 18 and over, and posted within Australia. The store is online only — there's no Canberra counter to visit — and a CBG oil is stocked, priced and shipped on the same terms as the CBD and CBN oils, to Belconnen, Gungahlin, Tuggeranong, Woden and beyond.

FAQ

What is CBG? Cannabigerol — a minor cannabinoid in the hemp plant. CBG oil is that compound in a coconut-derived MCT carrier. It's nicknamed the "mother cannabinoid" because the plant makes it first and converts most of it into the other cannabinoids as it grows.

Is CBG the same as CBD? No — two different cannabinoids. CBD (cannabidiol) is the abundant one, sold as full-spectrum or broad-spectrum oil; CBG (cannabigerol) is a separate, scarcer compound sold on its own.

Does CBG oil contain THC? It depends on the product, which is why each batch has a Certificate of Analysis stating the cannabinoid and THC figures. Ask for the COA before you buy.

Is CBG oil legal in ACT? Cannabinoid products are governed nationally through the TGA. We describe our oils by composition and sell to adults 18+; see the TGA for the current rules.

Where can I buy CBG oil in Canberra? Online from CBD Oil Canberra. Open the full range, choose a CBG strength, and we ship it across Belconnen, Gungahlin, Tuggeranong, Woden and ACT.
